Yorkville University is a private university in Canada founded in 2003 that offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs primarily in the fields of business, arts and media, psychology, and education. Yorkville University has campus locations in British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick Canada.

These campuses offer a blended learning approach, combining online coursework with face-to-face interactions and networking opportunities.

All graduate programs are offered in an online format while the undergraduate programs are offered in a blended format.

Faculties

Faculty of Business:

Admission Requirements at Yorkville University

Undergraduate Programs:

  1. Academic Requirements: International students must meet the minimum academic requirements for admission. This typically includes the completion of secondary education that is equivalent to Canadian high school completion. Applicants must submit their official transcripts or academic records, including course grades and graduation certificates. If these documents are not in English, they must be translated and officially certified.
    • The Bachelor of Creative Arts requires international applicants to have completed a two-year (four-term) diploma program in applied arts and technology with a minimum GPA of 2.0 OR a minimum of six months of practical work in the applicant’s specific field of creative arts plus successful completion of nine credits of undergraduate-level coursework in fine arts and humanities with an average grade of at least C.
  2. English Language Proficiency: International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted language proficiency tests include the TOEFL (iBT-80 overall), IELTS (6.5 overall), Duolingo (105 overall), or other equivalent exams. The specific minimum score requirements may vary depending on the program and level of study.
    • Applicants who do not satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirements may be considered for conditional admission and may enter the ESL Pathway Program.
  3. Supporting Documents: International students may be required to provide additional supporting documents such as a personal statement, letters of recommendation, or a resume/CV. These documents can help provide a comprehensive overview of the applicant’s qualifications and experiences.

Graduate Programs:

  1. Academic Requirements: International students are required to have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent when applying to a master’s program and a master’s degree when applying to a doctorate program from a recognized university or college. Applicants must submit their official transcripts or academic records, including course grades and graduation certificates. If these documents are not in English, they must be translated and officially certified. Please note that most graduate programs have a minimum of 3.0-3.33 GPA requirement.
  2. English Language Proficiency: International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted language proficiency tests include the TOEFL (iBT-92 overall), IELTS (7.0 overall), Duolingo (115 overall), or other equivalent exams. The specific minimum score requirements may vary depending on the program and level of study.
    • Applicants who do not satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirements may be considered for conditional admission and may enter the ESL Pathway Program.
  3. Letters of Recommendation: Graduate programs often require letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or other individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic or professional capabilities.
  4. Statement of Purpose: A statement of purpose or personal statement is commonly required, where applicants explain their academic and career goals, research interests, and reasons for pursuing the specific graduate program.
  5. Resume/CV: A detailed resume or curriculum vitae (CV) outlining the applicant’s educational background, work experience, research projects, publications, and other relevant achievements may be required.
  6. Portfolio or Writing Sample: Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit a portfolio of their work or a writing sample that showcases their skills and abilities in the specific field of study.
  7. Interview: Some programs may require an interview as part of the admission process, where applicants have the opportunity to discuss their background, interests, and suitability for the program.
  8. Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy Requirements: In addition to the above requirements this program requires possession of an official registration or certification in counseling, psychotherapy, or a related field, or holding a qualifying membership status. Additionally, applicants must provide evidence of at least two years of counseling experience following the completion of their master’s degree.

Tuition, Fees, and Refund Policy

Tuition: 

  1. Undergraduate Program Tuition: Ranges from $480 CAD – $675 CAD/credit
    • Eg. Bachelor of Creative Arts Tuition: $40,500 CAD for the whole program
    • Eg. Bachelor of Interior Design Tuition: $86,625 CAD for the whole program
    • Eg. Bachelor of Business Administration Tuition: $67,500 CAD for the whole program
    • Please note that these rates may change in the following years.
  2. Graduate Program Tuition: Ranges from $785 CAD – $890 CAD/credit
    • Eg. Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Tuition: $43,610 CAD for the whole program
    • Eg. Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy Tuition: $49,500 CAD for the whole program
  3. ESL Pathway Program Tuition: $3,908 CAD per level
  4. Tuition Deposit: The deposit for students is $3,908 CAD which is applied to tuition fees when students begin their program

Fees: 

  1. Application Fee: $75 CAD
  2. ESL Pathway Program Application Fee: $100 CAD
  3. Residential Fees: Homestay fees may vary between $230-$250 per week based on the type of accommodation

Refund Policy:

Should an applicant not successfully obtain their study permit, the University will refund the deposit minus an administrative fee of $500. Applicants will be required to provide proof of their declined study permit to be eligible for a refund.

The organization carefully screens and selects host families, ensuring they meet specific criteria and undergo background checks for the safety and well-being of the students.
  2. HOEM on Jarvis student residence (Ontario only):

HOEM on Jarvis offers a range of accommodation options to suit different student preferences and needs. This may include single or shared bedrooms within apartment-style units. The residence features modern and fully furnished apartments with amenities to facilitate comfortable student living.

The student residence provides various amenities and facilities to enhance the student experience. These may include common areas for socializing, study lounges, fitness facilities, laundry facilities, and secure access systems. Some residences may also have additional features such as rooftop terraces, gaming rooms, or on-site staff for assistance.
