Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a public university established in 1981. It operates five campuses situated in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia, Canada. KPU provides a diverse range of educational opportunities, including bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations in over 140 programs.

KPU offers a wide range of programs and degrees across various disciplines, including arts, business, science, health, trades, and technology.

Annually, approximately 20,000 students choose to study at KPU’s campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza.

Faculty of Arts:

Admission Requirements at KPU

Undergraduate Programs: 

  1. Academic Requirements: International students must have completed their secondary education that is equivalent to Canadian high school completion. Applicants must submit their official transcripts or academic records, including course grades and graduation certificates. Transcripts should be in English or accompanied by an official English translation. The specific grade requirements may vary depending on the program of study.
  2. English Language Proficiency: International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. KPU accepts various English language proficiency tests, such as TOEFL (88), IELTS (6.5), Duolingo (110) or other recognized equivalents. Students may also take the KPU English Placement Test (EPT) with placement into ENGL 1100.
  3. Supporting Documents: International students may be required to provide additional supporting documents, such as personal statements, portfolios, auditions, work experience, GMAT or GRE scores, letters of recommendation, or a resume/CV. These documents can help provide a comprehensive overview of the applicant’s qualifications and experiences.

Graduate Programs: 

  1. Academic Requirements: To be considered for admission, applicants must have graduated from a bachelor’s degree program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.67. Applicants must submit their official transcripts or academic records, including course grades and graduation certificates. Transcripts should be in English or accompanied by an official English translation
  2. English Language Proficiency: International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. KPU accepts various English language proficiency tests, such as TOEFL (88), IELTS (6.5), Duolingo (110) or other recognized equivalents. Tuition, Fees and Refund Policy

Tuition: 

  1. Undergraduate and Graduate Program Tuition: $747.18 CAD per credit
  2. ENGQ and ELST Courses Tuition: $413.48 CAD per credit
  3. Confirmation Deposit: In order to confirm your acceptance into KPU, it is necessary to submit a non-refundable* confirmation deposit of $5000 CAD for Limited and Open Intake programs. This deposit guarantees your place at KPU and will be credited towards your tuition fees.
  4. International Tuition Deposit: Commencing from the Spring 2022 semester, every continuing international student must submit an International Tuition Deposit before they can proceed with course registration. Each term, course registration will only be permitted after the deposit has been received, processed, and a minimum account balance of $2,200 has been maintained.

Fees: 

  1. Application Fee: $120 CAD
  2. Kwantlen Student Association (KSA) Fees: Maximum of $53.06 CAD per semester
  3. Multi-Pass and U-Pass BC (public transportation pass): $54.20 CAD per month
  4. Temporary Medical Insurance Plan Fee: $201.30 CAD per semester
  5. KSA Extended Health & Dental Fee (Annually): $200.85 CAD per year

Refund Policy: 

International students have the option to request a refund at KPU under specific conditions:

  • In case your study permit was denied you must ensure that you withdraw from all your classes prior to the designated “Last day to drop with 100% refund” deadline. Please be aware that session classes may have distinct drop dates. Any classes not dropped within the specified deadlines, as outlined on the KPU website, will require payment on your part. You must also provide the official visa rejection letter from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate.
  • Should you choose to maintain your enrollment in classes beyond that deadline, it will be your responsibility to cover the costs of any classes that are not dropped. It is important to note that the confirmation deposit you have submitted will be used towards your tuition fees and will not be refunded, irrespective of the outcome of your study permit application.
